At Mad River Rocket, we believe that better control leads to safer sledding.  Our innovative design allows you to make sharp turns, avoid obstacles, and even stop on demand. It's sledding reimagined for the modern family!

STRAPPING IN

To maximize control on the Mad River Rocket, kneel down on the knee pads. The Mad River Rocket blue logo should be at the front of the sled. Un-velcro the strap and position it over your thighs. Re-velcro and pull it snug.

Strapping in is not a requirement to use the sled. Plenty of Rocketers sit with their legs extended straight towards the front of the sled. Experiment and let us know how you like to Rocket!

TURNING

With the knees strapped in, leaning with the upper body will tilt the sled like a bicycle and cause the sled to steer. A hand in the snow can add some drag to further rotate the sled.

STOPPING

With a little bit of practice, you will be able to stop your sled. Unlike other sleds where one has to wait until the hill becomes flat (if you are lucky to make it that far) or, more likely, you have to bail and get snow into your jacket, gloves, and hat, the Mad River Rocket can stop on a dime. You’ll quickly learn that the sled can stop a few different ways. Just like skiing, you can turn your way deep into the hill until you come to a complete stop. For those wanting to show off a little to their friends, a quick twist of the hips and a slight lean uphill and you’ll bring the sled to a stop like an ice hockey player stopping on ice.
